Garfield's Birthday - June 19th

Garfield's Day, which is actually his birthday, is celebrated every year on June 19th. Garfield was created by the famous cartoonist Jim Davis and appeared in the comics for the first time on June 19, 1978. The comics also featured Garfield's owners, Jon Arbuckle and his dog friend Odie.

Garfield is a cat who especially likes to sleep and eat lasagna in quantities and hates Mondays. It is named after the grandfather of creator Jim Davis, James Garfield Davis (named after the 20th President of the United States, James Abram Garfield).

2 comic strips by Jim Davis in honor of Garfield's 8th birthday.
The author writes:
Garfield has two consecutive birthday bands in 1986, it's appropriate to do both for him. No wonder he's so fat, when John feeds him so much food!
And what is cherry phosphate? That's what John Arbeckel calls cherry-flavored soda.
How to celebrate Garfield's birthday?
Eat a lot of lasagna, sleep a lot and complain that you hate Monday ....

Wonder Woman Birthday - March 22

March 22 is the birthday of the super hero, the woman of valor, the Super Woman- Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman is a fictional character that first appeared in DC comics in December 1941.
The figure was created by William Moulton Marston (the man who invented the Systolic Blood Pressure Meter and the Polygraph), and is among the most famous characters of superheroes. Wonder Woman is one of DC's top three superheroes, together with Superman and Batman.

Wonder Woman is the Princess of the Amazons Diana (based on Greek mythology). It has superhuman powers and tools given to her by the Olympic gods, in order to bring peace, love and brotherhood to our world.

In the new adaptation of the character, Wonder Woman received her qualities and powers from Greek mythology: the beauty of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, the wisdom of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and justice, her physical strength from the goddess Demeter, and her animal instincts from Artemis, the goddess of hunting, wildlife and the moon.

The 2017 Wonder Woman film plays the character of Wonder Woman Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Between 1975 and 1979, there was an American television series called Wonder Woman in which actress Linda Carter starred as the woman of valor.

Why is March 22 the birthday of Wonder Woman?
Unlike superheroes like Superman and Batman, the story of Wonder Woman's birth is not told in any of her advertising. DC announced on its calendar in 1976 that March 22 is the day Wonder Woman was born on the island of Paradise. It is not clear why they chose this date. It may be because it is the equinox, the day the length of day and night is equal and spring begins, and this corresponds to the values that Wonder Woman represents - equality and justice.

Popeye the sailor man Day - January 17

If you were a child in the 1970s, you probably know Popeye and your mother probably forced you to eat spinach because of it.
Popeye is a comic book character first published on January 17, 1929, by creator Elsie Seeger.
Popeye is a sailor who fights his enemy Bluto to save his beloved Olive. When he gets into trouble he opens a can of spinach, eats the software and gets tremendous strength to fight it.
In the 1960s, Popeye received his own television series. She had a catchy and annoying song called "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man" that all the kids knew and loved to sing.

Popeye began his career as a minor and secondary character in the Thimble Theater cigar comic. His character gained popularity and the place she got in it grew until the name of the comic was changed to Popeye The Sailor man.

Elsie Sigar, the creator of Popeye, grew up in the town of Chester in Missouri, USA. The town's residents claim that the characters in the comics were inspired by the town's residents. Today the town has a Popeye Museum and a collection of spinach cans.
The figure of Olive Oil, Popeye's lover, is based, according to Chester residents, on the figure of Dora Pascal, a particularly thin and tall woman who would wear a headscarf around her neck. She had a shop she would rarely go out of.
Popeye's character is said to have been inspired by a man named Frank "Rocky" Fiegel, who had one eye, smoked a pipe and liked to get into fights in which he usually won.
Cigar died at the age of 44, in 1938. He contributed much to the reputation of the spinach but it turns out that the much appreciated spinach was a little too much than he deserved. The reference to spinach as a fortifying food came following the publication of a study in which there was an error in printing the decimal point in the amount of iron it contains, so that it was attributed 10 times higher than the actual amount. Although the mistake was discovered, the spinach's respectable place has been preserved and to this day it is attributed to the properties of a super-super vegetable.

Superman Day - June 12

Superman Day was created in 2013 by the company DC Comics, two days before the release of the movie "Man of Steel".

They called this special day "Steel Man Day" to promote the film, based on the character of Superman. Later this day was renamed Superman Day.

On the same day, DC Comics distributed bookstores through free copies of the Superman comic strip. Since then, every year on June 12, Superman Day has been celebrated.

Superman first appeared in Action Comics No. 1 on April 18, 1938. Created by writer Jerry Siegel and illustrator Joe Schuster.

Superman was born on the planet Krypton, called Kal-El. He was smuggled into space by his father Jor-El when the star was in danger. He grew up in Smallville under the secret identity of Clark Kent and later worked for the Daily Planet in Metropolis. He fell in love with the senior reporter Lois Lane and fought the super villain Lex Luthor, who threatens the peace of the country.

Superman's character was created in the wake of the Great Depression of 1929 and the 1930s in the US and Europe, the years after World War I that made people want a hero to fight the injustices of the world.

His character appeared in radio shows, television series, movies, computer games and comic strips.

In 1978, Superman's first film starring Christopher Reeve, a big blockbuster, was released.

How to celebrate Superman Day?
