Single Parent's Day- March 21

Single Parents' Day falls on March 21 in the United States to empower, respect and cherish the single mothers and fathers who raise children alone and to appreciate the hard work, dedication and sacrifice involved in single parenting. When a parent is single, all responsibility is placed on him or her without sharing the burden with anyone else. Whether it is by choice or out of necessity, single parents carry a heavy burden on their shoulders. They need to maneuver between work, school, medical care and household management without sharing roles with anyone else.

A single parent is defined as a man or woman who is raising one or more children alone. Single parenting is usually the result of changes in the two-parent model: separation, divorce, widowhood, and a being single.

Many single parents have family support. Many are assisted by grandparents, siblings and other extended family members. Fortunately, today there are also support groups for single parents on social media where you can get advice and help.

Single parents sometimes have relief and help from the state.

happy single parent's day

The history of Single Parents' Day

In 1984, Janice Muglan of the United States wrote a position paper in which she expressed the wish that just as Mother's Day and Father's Day should be recognized, the single parent's day should be recognized. The single parent day was announced by President Ronald Reagan on March 21, 1984.

How to celebrate single parents' day?

Although single parents' day is a day declared in the US and celebrated there, we all actually know a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker who is a single parent. Today is the day to support and appreciate them. Make this day a special day for single parents you know. Use the hashtag #NationalSingleParentDay to post on social media to express and support them.

Day of the Dead - November 1

Despite the scary and perhaps also depressing name, Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos, Día de los Difuntos or, Día de Muertos) is a day of happy and cheerful celebration celebrated with costumes, carnivals and dances.
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday dedicated to the memory of the fathers who passed away. It is celebrated on the first and second days of November, the day Christians celebrate Halloween (which comes after Halloween) and the day before all the souls of the Catholic Church.

The holiday is celebrated with a cheerful and happy carnival in Mexico and other places where there are large Mexican communities.

During the day it is customary to go to cemeteries and churches and bring the dead gifts such as bottles of tequila, candles and flowers. People come to the carnival in skeleton and mask costumes or make-up of creative skulls, walking around with dolls of the dead and dancing.

Other countries that celebrate the Day of the Dead are the Philippines, Brazil and other countries in Latin America.
The origin of the holiday is the cultures of the original natives of the American continent (mistakenly referred to as "Indians") - the Aztec culture, the Mayan culture, the Porfercha, the Nahuel and the Totonak.

In Aztec culture the Day of the Dead is celebrated in the ninth month of the Aztec calendar, starting in early August, for an entire month. The holiday is considered the feast of the goddess Miktakakiwadel, "Goddess of the Dead," during which ceremonies were held for the souls of the dead relatives.
When Mexico was conquered by the Spaniards in the 15th century, Christian missionaries worked to eradicate the pagan holiday, and did so by postponing the holiday and uniting it with the Catholic holiday, All Saints' Day, which was held on the first day of November.

Father's Day- the third Sunday of June

Father's Day is celebrated in the United States on Sunday, the third week of June.
Father's Day is a celebration in honor of fathers and a day of expression of appreciation and love for the fathers in the society.
A father is the biological or sociological parent of a child. Father-child relations are the determining factor for the father's role.

Like mothers, human fathers can also be classified according to their biological, social, or legal relationships with their children. Historically, it was the biological relationship that defined paternity. But proof of paternity was problematic and often social conventions defined the paternity of a man, that is, the husband of the child's mother. This method of defining fatherhood dominated western society from the days of ancient Rome and was expressed in the well-known Latin saying: "There is always certainty in the mother, the father is the one whom marriage points to." (In Latin: Mater semper certa; pater est quem nuptiae demonstrant).
