Coloring pages of quokkas, one of the most cute animals in the world. The quokka is an Australian marsupial, also called the "happiest animal in the world" because of the smile that is always on its face. Quokka Day does not yet have a fixed date, and is celebrated between the end of August and mid-September. The Quokka Day celebrations were announced by the Minister of Tourism of the island of Rottnest in Australia, which is the main place where the quokka lives. Quokka is the national emblem of the island of Rottnest, located near the city of Perth in the state of Western Australia. Unfortunately it is in danger of extinction, because its living area shrinks as the person makes his mark in the area. Quokka is an herbivore that is mainly active at night. It needs hiding places to protect her from foxes, cats, dogs and dingo. Due to deforestation, swamp drainage and burning of vegetation for agricultural development, its hiding places are shrinking and its species is in a vulnerable state of conservation. For this reason the Rottnest Island Authority has announced an entire weekend to be dedicated to quokka to raise awareness for the need to preserve it. Many quokkas live in a small terrestrial colony in the Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, where they are parallel to another small marsupial, the Gilbert's potoroo (Potorous gilbertii). The size of the quokka is about the size of a domestic cat and is one of the first Australian mammals to be seen by Europeans who came to Australia in the 17th century.
Willem de Vlamingh, a Dutch captain who explored the central west coast of Australia (then called New Holland) reported in 1696 that the island where he saw the quokka was full of giant rats, so he called it "Eylandt 't Rottenest" (in Dutch "rat's nest").
The quokka is a human-friendly animal. It is not afraid of them and often approaches them, but on the island of Rottnest, coming into contact with quokka is illegal.
The weight of the quokka ranges from 2.5 to 5 kg. Its body length is 40-90 cm and its tail is relatively short for a pocket animal. It can climb trees and shrubs. The quokka calves once a year, and in its litter there is only one puppy, which further puts this species in danger of extinction.

Penguin coloring pages. The penguins are such cute animals, with a very positive character. Who doesn't love penguins? The problem is that they have to live in frozen places, far from us, and usually we can't see them in reality. So why don't we paint pictures of them as a tribute? 

Penguins Awareness Day is a day designed to celebrate our love to one of the cutest animal in the world, comes from the Southern Hemisphere, Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands.

Although penguins can not fly, they belong to the poultry department. They use their wings for swimming.

This day is a holiday in honor of the penguins, but it's also time to think about rescuing them. Many penguin colonies have been lost due to climate change and it is estimated that half of the imperial penguin population will disappear by the end of this century.

Penguins also have an organ near their eye filter the salt from the water and take it out of their system.

In the Arctic region (area around the North Pole) there are no Penguins.

Penguins eat fish and crustaceans.

Emperor penguins can dive to a depth of over 500 meters and stay submerged up to 27 minutes.

Magellanic penguin always come back to their wives after their journeys of 200,000 km alone.

Sea Monkey Day - May 16

If you were a kid in the 70s or 80s of the last century, you probably know sea monkeys, tiny creatures that come in the mail in the form of grains in a bag, pour them into an aquarium and they come to life and become cute little crabs.

May 16th is a day dedicated to these special creatures and the weird story behind the way they came to our aquariums.

It all started when a young American entrepreneur named Harold von Braunhut discovered in 1956 that fishermen in his hometown of New York were using as bait for fish in cute little crabs. These tiny crabs had a wonderful ability - in extreme dry conditions they enter a state of dormancy where they can stay for many years, and as soon as they are put back in the water they come back to life and become agile swimmers. In addition, fertilized crab eggs can develop within 24 hours and tiny white crabs hatch from them as soon as water with salt is added.

Brownhut's business sense immediately went into action and he realized that these sweet creatures could be marketed as pets to lots of people and make a lot of money.

The creatures that Brownhut discovered are called artemia. It is a type of tiny cancer that is common in lakes and salt lakes. Its commercial collection is possible in a handful of places around the world such as Siberia, the Great Dead Sea in Utah in the US and China. They are also found in the diesel lagoons and the Atacama Desert in South America.

Brownhut realized that people would not be excited to just buy crabs called Artemia as a pet, so he thought and thought and decided to call them "sea monkeys" because their long tails reminded him of monkeys.

He hired an illustrator named Joe Orlando who created comic books in which he built a whole world of magical characters from fairy tales of their own living in the underwater world.

American children were enthralled by the new animals that were discovered to the world and of course asked their parents to buy them, and sea monkeys became the flagship hit in America. Von Brownhut patented his invention and later developed with his team a "commercial breed" of Artemia - carefully selected and engineered crabs to suit longer aquarium life.

These tiny crabs have also become TV stars - they have appeared on shows like Spin City, Roseanne, Night Court, South Park, The Simpsons, Garry Shandling's show and Desperate Housewives. On October 29, 1998, sea monkeys went into space with astronaut John Glenn aboard the space shuttle Discovery. They returned to Earth after spending nine days in space and the eggs that hatched eight weeks later were apparently not affected at all by their travels.

Madagascar Independence Day - June 26

Madagascar is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, off Mozambique in East Africa. It includes the island of Madagascar, which is the fourth largest island in the world, and a large number of smaller peripheral islands.

Madagascar has a very diverse variety of animals and plants. According to continental migration theory, the island of Madagascar belonged to the Gondwana continent, which separated from India about 88 million years ago, causing local plants and animals to develop in isolation. 3. The Hot Springs of Antsirabe

Antsirabe is the third largest city in Madagascar. It is located 167 km south of the capital Antananarivo in a mountain range 1500 meters above sea level. Due to the high location Antsirabe is the coldest city in Madagascar and the temperature in winter can reach 0 degrees Celsius. Its markets are vibrant and colorful, as everywhere on the island.

4. The Baobab trees

The baobab trees are best known for Antoine de Saint-Exupery's book, The Little Prince. In Madagascar you will see them a lot because these amazing trees are part of the natural vegetation.

5. Railway of Fianarantsoa-Côte Est

The railway was built by the French when they ruled the island, between 1926 and 1936. It will take you on an amazing journey through some of the most endangered habitats in the world, by cyclones, floods and mudslides. Many of the trains traveling on this line still bear their date of manufacture from 1893. Maintaining the train helps prevent deforestation of 97,400 acres. The train is still running, but the line is suffering from disruptions due to broken rails caused by cyclone storms and obsolescence.

Antananarivo is the capital of Madagascar and is located on a mountain ridge in the Antananarivo district in the heart of the country. Antananarivo, called Tana for short, is a beautiful city full of colorful houses and streets, markets, parks and gardens. 7. Tsingy Rouge Red Tsingy Park

The red tsingi is a red stone formed by the erosion of the Irodo River in the Diana region of northern Madagascar. It is located about 60 km south of Antsiranana near the city of Sadjoavato.

8. Our Lady of La Salette Cathedral, Antsirabé

Not all Madagascar wonders are the product of nature's creation. The cathedral of Antsirabe was built as a small clay church in 1900 by a French priest. At the beginning of the 20th century, the missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette arrived and upgraded it to a church 22 meters long, 16 meters wide and 8 meters high, with a 14 meter high bell tower. In 1921, with the establishment of the Diocese of Antsirabe, the church was rebuilt for the growing Catholic community in Madagascar. Today the length of the church is 60 meters, its width is 16.77 meters and its height is 14 meters. The height of its bell tower is 45 meters.

9. The special animals of Madagascar

International Camel Day - June 22

International Camel Day is celebrated on June 22 each year, to raise awareness that camels are very important animals and that they have the right to live a good life and be treated with compassion.

The camel is a mammal also called the "Ship of the desert", and is suitable for desert life. It can be found in the world in the Middle East, Australia and Africa, in desert regions.

Camels are captive animals and adapted to the needs of humans. Humans use them as beasts of burden and labor, and also as a source of milk, meat and wool.

There are two types of camels: the single-humped camel, which is the most common type of camel, and the endangered two-humped camel.

The camel is able to endure without drinking water for two weeks.

The camels do not store water in their hump! Some people think that the camel can get by for a long time without water available because it carries water in its hump, but the truth is that what is there is only pure fat. This fat is an insulation against the cold heat.

To deal with water deficiency in the body, the camel secretes concentrated urine that contains small amounts of water, so the body does not excrete much water. When the camel reaches a water source he drinks large amounts to make up for the missing water in his body and reach a proper water balance.

When the camel finds water, it can drink up to 160 liters (about 40 gallons) at a time!

The camel adapts to desert life by being active in the morning and in the evening, when the air is cool. In the hot hours of the day he lies in the shade or rests while standing.

When the camels are scared or nervous they tend to vomit. That's why you should never annoy a camel. He does not spit but vomits food contents from his stomach.

Camels have three sets of eyelids and two rows of lashes to keep sand away from their eyes. When there are sandstorms, they are able to completely close their nostrils.

Camels have thick lips that allow them to eat thorny plants that other animals cannot eat.

The camels can sit comfortably on very hot sand thanks to the thick leather cushions on their chest and knees.

The camels are very strong and can carry up to about  900 pounds for 25 miles a day.

Camel's pregnancy lasts 14 months.

The calves are born completely white and turn brown as they mature.

In Arabic, the word camel has more than 160 synonyms.

Donkey Day - May 8

World Donkey Day is a day in honor of one of the animals with the longest history of human use in the equine family.

The domesticated donkey has been used by humans in many ways throughout history, as far back as 7,000 years ago, in carrying heavy loads in difficult and challenging areas and in any climate, even the most demanding. It was also used for carrying people, without any regard for the weight it carries on its back because of the high endurance it has and in various arduous agricultural jobs.

The donkey is mistakenly attributed two wrong traits: stubbornness and stupidity. Studies have found that this stigma is incorrect.

The reason for their stubborn standing in place is their intelligence and sensitivity to danger. The donkeys are able to think independently and make decisions in their favor, so when they feel something is wrong they stop and start digging with their heels in the ground. Donkeys also have an excellent memory. They are able to remember people and donkeys they knew from 25 years ago.

The word "donkey" is used as an insulting and disparaging phrase and there are phrases that use the word donkey to describe something inappropriate like "Like a donkey carrying books" to describe someone who stores knowledge but is not smart enough to use it, "donkey", "ass" or "dumbass" to say someone is particularly stupid or silly. After all the service that the donkey gives to humans during his life, is this the treatment he deserves?

The donkey is a social animal. They desperately need the company of other donkeys. A donkey that is not in the company of other donkeys will experience depression and may even die from it. A company of other mammals will also help the donkey overcome the feeling of loneliness.

When donkeys live in a herd, they tend to nurture and clean themselves.

The sound that the donkey makes is called bray. The male donkey is called a jack and a female is called a jenny or jennet. The donkey's offspring is called a foal.

The lifespan of the donkey is between twenty and fifty years. The donkey eats plants and its digestive system is able to break down even plants that are not edible to humans. They are able to utilize 95% of the food they eat because they originally live in desert areas where there is not much vegetation available. They also take advantage of the moisture in the plants they eat to maintain the amount of water in their bodies.

The best way to celebrate World Donkey Day is to learn about the donkeys and get to know them, and to teach other people about them, and let them know how wrong the stigmas are. Another great way is to help charities that rescue donkeys from abuse and neglect and give them a better life.
