Flatmate’s Day - March 24

Almost every one of us had or was, or has now, at some point in life a flatmate.

Finding good partners for the apartment is a matter of good intuition and also a lot of luck. If you rent an apartment with someone you do not know, you may find out over time that even though when you met them they were very nice, they are actually annoying or petty. But the opposite can also happen - and in time you will find that your partner is amazing.

Good partners can help you take your dog for a walk as your shift at work lengthens. They can help you in a crisis when the ex calls. They can lend you their cell phone when you run out of battery or their computer when you have no internet. They can prepare food for you when you are starving or buy you something that is missing. They can just be good and fun friends.

So if you have a considerate and pleasant roommate, today is the day to say thank you and express appreciation.

Some ideas to express your appreciation on the day of the apartment partners:

Tell them something nice, a nice compliment, just like that in the middle of the day.

Call to ask them if they need anything you can do for them.

Cook a meal for both of you. When preparing food, prepare a double amount that will be enough for them as well.

Clean and tidy the common rooms in the apartment (living room, kitchen and bathroom) and make them a pleasant surprise when they return home.

Decorate the house with beautiful flowers or a new flower pot.

Buy something nice for the house like a toaster, juicer, new microwave. Something that the partner can also enjoy but take with you when you leave.

All of these things are small things that can make a very big difference and show your partner that you care.

Puppy Day - March 23

Puppy Day is the day to celebrate the joy and happiness of raising cute puppies at home. What fun it is to raise dogs from the first days of their lives. It does not have to be a dog, it can be either a cat or a hamster. It is today to go to charities and adopt a small dog or cat puppy, respond to ads that offer for the adoption of puppies and thereby help abandoned puppies who have nowhere to grow.

World Water Day - March 22

"On World Water Day, let us commit to developing the necessary policies to ensure that water and sustainable energy are guaranteed to many and not just some."

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a statement in honor of World Water Day.

Water and energy are closely intertwined and interdependent. Energy transfer requires the utilization of water resources, especially for hydroelectric, nuclear and thermal energy sources.

We sometimes take the water for granted, but about a billion people around the world do not have access to clean and safe drinking water.

In honor of International Water Day declared by the United Nations in 1992, get some facts you (maybe) did not know about water that will make you think about water differently:

3.4 million people die each year from water-related factors.

People in Africa and Asia have to walk an average of 6 km to collect water.

An average swimming pool loses 3.785 liters a month as a result of evaporation and other factors.

March 22 is the birthday of the super hero, the woman of valor, the Super Woman- Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is a fictional character that first appeared in DC comics in December 1941.

The figure was created by William Moulton Marston (the man who invented the Systolic Blood Pressure Meter and the Polygraph), and is among the most famous characters of superheroes. Wonder Woman is one of DC's top three superheroes, together with Superman and Batman.

Wonder Woman is the Princess of the Amazons Diana (based on Greek mythology). It has superhuman powers and tools given to her by the Olympic gods, in order to bring peace, love and brotherhood to our world.

In the new adaptation of the character, Wonder Woman received her qualities and powers from Greek mythology: the beauty of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, the wisdom of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and justice, her physical strength from the goddess Demeter, and her animal instincts from Artemis, the goddess of hunting, wildlife and the moon.

The 2017 Wonder Woman film plays the character of Wonder Woman Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Between 1975 and 1979, there was an American television series called Wonder Woman in which actress Linda Carter starred as the woman of valor.

Why is March 22 the birthday of Wonder Woman?

Unlike superheroes like Superman and Batman, the story of Wonder Woman's birth is not told in any of her advertising. DC announced on its calendar in 1976 that March 22 is the day Wonder Woman was born on the island of Paradise. It is not clear why they chose this date. It may be because it is the equinox, the day the length of day and night is equal and spring begins, and this corresponds to the values that Wonder Woman represents - equality and justice.

Single Parent's Day- March 21

Single Parents' Day falls on March 21 in the United States to empower, respect and cherish the single mothers and fathers who raise children alone and to appreciate the hard work, dedication and sacrifice involved in single parenting. When a parent is single, all responsibility is placed on him or her without sharing the burden with anyone else. Whether it is by choice or out of necessity, single parents carry a heavy burden on their shoulders. They need to maneuver between work, school, medical care and household management without sharing roles with anyone else.

A single parent is defined as a man or woman who is raising one or more children alone. Single parenting is usually the result of changes in the two-parent model: separation, divorce, widowhood, and a being single.

Many single parents have family support. Many are assisted by grandparents, siblings and other extended family members. Fortunately, today there are also support groups for single parents on social media where you can get advice and help.

Single parents sometimes have relief and help from the state.

The history of Single Parents' Day

In 1984, Janice Muglan of the United States wrote a position paper in which she expressed the wish that just as Mother's Day and Father's Day should be recognized, the single parent's day should be recognized. The single parent day was announced by President Ronald Reagan on March 21, 1984.

How to celebrate single parents' day?

Although single parents' day is a day declared in the US and celebrated there, we all actually know a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker who is a single parent. Today is the day to support and appreciate them. Make this day a special day for single parents you know. Use the hashtag #NationalSingleParentDay to post on social media to express and support them.
