Sunscreen Day- 27th May

Today, May 27, is the day that reminds us of how important it is to put on sunscreen, as the song by Buzz Luhrmann says "Wear Sunscreen."
Ultraviolet radiation can cause sunburn, skin cancer, sunspots and premature aging. The sunscreen should also be used on cloudy days, because UV rays penetrate through the clouds.

If you live in the northern hemisphere (like about 88% of the world population), then you are entering into summer. If you live in the tropics of the earth (like about 40% of the world's population), you are always in an area with direct sunlight. So, now is the time to purchase a new sunscreen.
If you already have sunscreen, check the expiry date. Most modern fluorescence filters work up to three years. So if you want the cream you put to work (that's the whole idea, isn't it?), You need to replace the protective cream that you have expired.
Another last thing, sunscreen is not only when you go to the sea. Our skin is exposed to the sun even when we are in the car, walking, running, etc., so as the song says:
Wear sunscreen.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.

Cellophane Tape Day - May 27

How would we manage without the cellophane tap? It is hard to imagine what we would do without it, how would we stick covers of gifts, books, etc.?
May 27 is the day of the cellophane paper.

It was invented by Richard Garley Drew (June 22, 1899 - December 14, 1980).
Drew began working for 3M in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1920, which was a small company manufacturing products for industry, including sandpaper.
One day, while testing their new sandpaper, WetorDry, Drew realized that their popular automatic painting machines had difficulty distinguishing between two colors. So he started working hard in 3M labs and invented the first masking-tape strip, which was 5 cm wide and glued with light glue using pressure.

In the first masking tape the glue was smeared on the edges, but not in the middle. During the product's first trial year, the glue fell off the automatic dyeing machine and Drew growled in response to his assistant: "Take this paper back to your stingy bosses and tell them to put more glue on it!". When he said "stingy" he used the word "Scotch" which in slang meant "thrifty". And so in 1930 he invented an improved adhesive tape called "Scotch".

In 1925 Drew invented the world's first transparent cellophane adhesive (called cellophane tape in the UK and other countries in the world and velcro in the United States). Following the economic crisis and the collapse of Wall Street in 1929, people began to use the thing paper to fix things instead of throwing them away and so the 3M company was able to grow out of the Great Depression and invent another variety of products.

It's no exaggeration to say that Dracula is the most famous vampire in history, but he certainly was not the first and the writer Bram Stoker did not invent the vampire out of his fertile imagination.

The history of blood-sucking creatures began long before, in novels published in the Middle Ages. The inspiration for Dracula's character was taken from the figure of Vlad III, known as Vlad the Impaler, the wavid (ruler) of Wallachia, a region in southern Romania. Vlad III also known as Draculia. Vlad the Impaler lived between the years 1431-1476 and during his reign Bolakia fought for its independence against the Ottoman Empire. He was known for his toughness and his cruelty. He had executed thousands of people and his name had been taken from his favorite form of execution - skewering people on a pointed pole. It is said that during his time people were so afraid of getting caught up in crimes and of being executed that you could leave a sack of gold in the middle of the street and no one would touch it.   In 1931 the first film was released on Dracula, starring actor Bela Lugosi.

Dracula also appeared in comics, for the first time in 1972, as a super villain in Marvel's comics.

Tap Dance Day - May 25

Tap dance is a dance style in which the feet are locked in special shoes for dancing on the floor, in different rhythms. The shoes hitting the floor make knocking noises that add to the rhythm of the music. Sometimes the dance is not accompanied by music and what is heard is just the tapping of the shoes.
Tap dance has two main styles: Rhythm and Broadway. The Broadway style is most often seen in musicals because it focuses on dance and physical aesthetics. The rhythm style focuses on musicality and rhythms and is considered part of the jazz world.

International Tap dance Day was proclaimed by US President George W. Bush in 1989. He chose May 25 because it was the birthday of tap-father Bill Bojangles Robinson, who united whites and blacks in tap dancing in America in the early 20th century.
You can see tap dancing in many movies, including: "Tap", "Singin' in the Rain", "White Nights", "Move Your Feet", "The Cotton Club", "American in Paris" "Bootmen".
Among the most successful tap dancers today: Brenda Bufalino,  Dianne "Lady Di" Walker, Savion Glover, Sam Weber, Jason Samuels Smith, Sarah Reich, Melinda Sullivan, Maurice Hines, Michelle Dorrance, Chloe Arnold, Jason Janas, Heather Cornell, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards.

In the next video (speakers required) you will see an amazing tap dance performance by a 6 year old boy named Luke Spring, who is dancing alongside a famous and popular dancer named Justin M. Lewis. The two demonstrate rhythm, speed and energy and produce the dance sounds with their own feet. Both perform across the United States and are enthusiastically swept away by a large audience.

May 25 is also Towel Day

Towel Day - May 25

The Towel Day, which falls on May 25, is a day of honor in memory of the author Douglas Adams (1952-2001), who wrote the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The date was set two weeks after the date of Adams' death, May 11, 2001, because it was the shortest time it took to spread the word about the existence of that day.
On this day, fans of the writer and lovers of his memory take a towel with them wherever they go.

Why celebrate Towel Day?

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The source for Towel Day is in Adams' story, in the seventh episode of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, first book, about his vacation in Greece, and the fact that whenever he wanted to go to the sea, he found that his towel was gone. After his vacation was over, he decided that whoever wanted his life to be tidy, "should know where his towel is" and not panic. The book describes the towel as the most useful item a hitchhiker can take with him as he wanders among the stars.

Tiara Day- May 24

The tiara is a delicate crown suitable for a bride, beauty queen or a costume of a queen and princess.
Tiara Day is a day designed to celebrate the empowerment of women.
Unlike scarves and veils designed to hide a woman's face, the tiara is a delicate crown that emphasizes the beauty of her face. Therefore, it is a symbolic day for the expression of the control and pride of the woman in her life.

On this day women are supposed to go with a tiara on their head, but maybe it will look a little weird if you are not on your way to your wedding, so women, imagine you have it on your head and go with it upright and proud, like a beauty queen!

May 24 is also Brothers Day

Brothers Day - May 24

Brother, did you know that today is Brothers Day?
Brothers Day is meant to celebrate the strong bond that exists between brothers. Relationships between siblings is one of the strongest relationships between people. Brothers grow up together in the same house, with the same family, share secrets with each other, play together, quarrel with each other, compete with each other, envy each other and cheer for each other. It should be noted that May 24 is Brothers' Day, the sisters are not included.

Famous brothers
The first famous brothers in history are Cain and Abel who appeared at the beginning of the book of Genesis. This is a story about jealousy and murder, the first murder in history to be exact. It ends badly but it has an important morality of mind: every person is responsible for his actions and has the choice whether to act good or bad.

There are brothers who got along better and even achieved good results, such as the Wright brothers who built the first planes that managed to fly, or the Grimm brothers who wrote wonderful fairy tales.
The bond between the brothers is so strong and occupies such a significant part in the lives of many people, that it has served as an inspiration for hundreds of books, films, paintings, poetry and plays.
Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis are brothers. Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb were members of the BJ band. The five Jacksons were all brothers.
No doubt sometimes the siblings do not get equally the fame or love they deserve, and sometimes it turns out that they feel deprived, but after all, Brotherhood Day is the day to show your brother that you care about him.

How to celebrate Brothers Day?
The simplest - make contact with the brother or brothers and initiate a joint pastime.
Go have a drink at a pub, or a movie, go visit him or just send a message over the phone with a cute GIF file.
If you have not seen your brother for a long time, today is to renew the relationship. You may have missed a lot of things!
