Old Maids Day- June 4

Old Maids Day is a joyous occasion for single women around the world who meet and celebrate for one reason- that they are cheerful and happy. 

Older single women have a carefree lifestyle and full of independence. They do not have a husband on their head, and children who bring with them a million concerns and have their own free time, money and vitality.   

The annual celebration unites the individual men and women around the world, some of the most advanced cities, social events of dance and entertainment. The tradition of this day began in the 30s of the last century and continues to this day, despite the big dance celebrations are less common nowadays. 

So how do we celebrate the day of bachelorhood? You can drink an Old maid cocktail , play the card game Old maid, listen to the song "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles and enjoy generally single for as long as it lasts.

The 35th of May- June 4

Some people refer to the date of June 4 as the date of 35 May, based on the famous novel by Erich Kastner, since that June 4 is the day that comes five days after May 30.

The 35th of May, or Conrad's Ride to the South is a novel published by Erich Kästner in 1931.

The novel recounts the adventures of Conrad, a schoolboy whose teacher gave him an assignment to write an essay about the South Sea, believing that as the boy was good in arithmetic, he must be "lacking in imagination".

Conrad's whimsical uncle, Mr. Ringelhuth, leads him to a journey to the South Sea, accompanied by Negro Caballo, a talking horse. The journey, which starts inside the uncle's wardrobe, passes through bizarre places such as the land of the lazy, whose inhabitants refrain from any exertion whatsoever and swallow pills in order to avoid the effort entailed by chewing food. Other fantastic places through which Conrad and his companions pass include the Automated City that is governed by futuristic technology (such as mobile phones with vocal dialing that were considered science fiction at the time the novel was published), the upside-down world governed by children who educate the adults and reprimand their misbehaved parents, and so forth.

All these adventures occur on the 35th of May, which makes sense as that date is prone to be filled with miracles and wonders.

In honor of this special date, please buy Erich Kästner's book (The 35th of May) or borrow it from your local library. Remember, magic is reality on May 35. Nothing is strange on that day.

World Bicycle Day - June 3

In April 2018, the UN General Assembly declared June 3 to be International Bicycle Day. The decision to dedicate a special day to bicycles came to recognize them as a sustainable, simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally friendly means of transport, unique, longevity and flexibility.

This is certainly true. Bicycles have been around since the 19th century. The first documented model of a bicycle was presented to the public in Paris in 1818 by the German Baron Karl von Drais. These were bicycles that were propelled by pushing the rider's feet against the ground and were known as "running machine", or "Draisine" in the name of their inventor.

In 1839 the first modern bicycles were created by the Scottish son of a blacksmith Kirkpatrick Macmillan who included the previous bicycle model when he created a crankshaft to propel the rear wheel.

In the late 1860s, the French Ernest Michaux and Pierre Lallement designed the first bicycles with pedals. Their bikes were all made of wood and later contained metal tires. Their model was called a "boneshaker" because riding them was very uncomfortable.

In 1870, the Englishman James Starley invented the "Penny-Farthing" bicycle model, which contained an extra-large front wheel that allowed the rider to travel at a higher speed than the boneshaker bicycle. These bikes were dangerous because of the great height of the rider who fell from them quite a few times. In the 1890s the safety bikes were invented that contained two equal wheels and a drive chain.

The nineties of the 19th century were called the "Golden Age of Bicycles". Add gears to them, move the seat back and develop the paddle using a chain. Cycling has become a comfortable ride and they are becoming more and more popular.

The bikes are not harmful to the environment because they do not waste any resources and do not pollute. Cycling contributes to health and is especially beneficial for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

How to celebrate World Bicycle Day?

There are many reasons why World Bicycle Day celebration is vital to the health of the people of the planet and to the planet itself. Bicycles are an easy-to-use and affordable means of transportation for those who may not have access to a car.

In honor of the bike day you can ride them on the way to work or your place of study. You will not have to find parking when you arrive.

You can also go on a bike ride in nature and enjoy the view and good air.

Repeat Day- June 3

Repeat Day, Repeat Day, is the day to do, is the day to do things again and again, things again and again, again and again, again and again.   

On June 3, we celebrate the repeat day. 

Repeated things in our life. The repeat of actions contribute us to the feeling of framework, control and order. We get up in the morning, get dressed, brush teeth, drink coffee, get stuck in traffic, and so on. 

Everything repeats itself and everything familiar and sometimes something come to break the routine, but overall it also gives us confidence. 

How to celebrate the Repeat Day? Do something you already did. Look again a movie you liked, go again somewhere you love and you were in. Eat again food that you like. In short, you do again something you already did. 

You can also watch the movie "Groundhog Day", which is the 1993 film in which the main character is stuck in a time warp that makes him get up every day to the morning of yesterday.

The Italian Republic Day- June 2

June 2 is Italy's Republic Day (Festa della Repubblica), a national holiday observed in commemoration of the institutional referendum held as a general poll in 1946, following the end of World War 2. 

On that day the Italian people were called to decide upon the form of government to be established following the defeat of the Fascist regime. The poll resulted in the overthrow of the Fascist party and the termination of the monarchy in favor of a democratic republic. King Umberto II and all other male members of the Savoy royal family were sent to exile. They and their descendants were forbidden by law to set foot on Italian soil.

This prohibition was lifted only in 2002. Republic Day is commemorated in Italy by a grand military parade and a spectacular aerial demonstration. The parade sets out from the center of Rome, in the presence of the president of the Italian Republic, the prime minister and other notaries.

Parades are also conducted in other cities and towns throughout Italy.  

If you don't happen to be in Italy on Republic Day, you can express empathy by feasting on Italian dishes such as pizza or pasta, watching Italian cinema such as movies by Federico Fellini, listening to Italian tunes and lyrics, etc.

Rons Gone Wrong coloring pages

Ron's Gone Wrong is a film by 20th Century Studios (Fox) and the animated studios Locksmith that tells the story of Barney, a middle school student who does not get along socially with his peers. In addition, Barney's family is struggling financially to live. When another kid at school gets a B-bot, a highly intelligent robot toy that plays endless games and videos, Barney feels even more out of place. His father finally manages to buy him a robot that is supposed to be his best friend out of the box and Barney quickly discovers that there is something unique about him. The robot's name is Ron and soon all sorts of funny mishaps start happening to him which is why he and Barney go on a journey full of action and learn about the wonderful complexity of true friendship.

Go Barefoot Day – June 1

June 1 is the day to shed off your shoes and walk barefoot on the grass.

No matter where you are, at work, on a picnic, anywhere, just kick off the footgear. It's time to clean the closet and give away with shoes that you don't need. 

More importantly, it's a custom this day to donate a pair of shoes to charity, for the unfortunate who can't afford to buy a pair of their own. 

The organization behind this special day is Soles4Souls, a nonprofit global social enterprise that initiated the Go Barefoot Day in the wake of the Tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004. More than a million and a half people were left unsheltered, deprived of all their belongings, homes, clothes and shoes, everything. 

The Go Barefoot Day was proclaimed in 2005. 

Since then, donations of shoes keep flowing in, and so far over 26 million pairs of shoes have been handed out to the needy all over the globe.
